The Well Path's SOS North County 647b Diversion Program Now Endorsed By The North County Gang Commission

February 10, 2018

We are excited to announce the recognition and support of our First Offender Diversion program for prostitution arrests/probation violations made in North County. Our new program is designed to be the sister program of the already functioning Survivors of The Streets (SOS) group, run by Freedom From Exploitation, in the city of San Diego which offers coercion resiliency education to women in the life of sexual exploitation. The attendees are court mandated to attend the 7 weeks of education along with HIV testing and education. Our SOS North County program will be a 10 week program and will offer the same education and resources as the current SD program offers. We will be using this platform to do our direct outreach to women in need of a life change. The majority of women coming into these programs do not identify as victims right away, but according to stats from SOS SD, more than half of their attendees have been trafficked at some point in their time in the life of prostitution, with a large majority of them entering into the life as a minor.  Our goal is to use the program as a means to reduce recidivism back into the life and successfully provide an exit strategy to those seeking help. We will also be providing clothing, toiletries, job search capabilities, and referrals to case management, housing, therapy, and legal assistance with extended care components after completion of the program. See below a copy of our support/recommendation letter from the commission.
