Marjorie is a survivor of many forms of exploitation and she understands what it takes to successfully leave a life of abuse and exchange it for a life of freedom. She knows all too well the needs of the women we serve and aims to be an example of hope and encouragement as she works with The Well Path to provide avenues to the many forms of healing that are needed to make it out and stay out.
Her dream for The Well Path began as she saw a need for more emergency housing and links to resources during her years of working directly with survivors of sexual exploitation and human trafficking as a peer support mentor and advocate, and now currently as a Director of Client Care overseeing another shelter for survivors through another organization.
Marjorie has made it her mission to bridge the gap in stable housing to reduce recidivism by providing the much needed emergency housing as most current programs do not offer emergency resources.
The name The Well Path came to her while reading the scripture Isaiah 12:3 “Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.” (NKJV) She had already been desiring a name with The Well as the story of the women at the well is a perfect symbol of the love she knows God has for the women that The Well Path serves. She knew right away that the verse in Isaiah captured the symbolism of Christ’s cleansing water from the well as well as the necessary paths to full restoration through God’s salvation with joy along the way.
Coming from a psychological background, Marjorie’s broader interpretation of the verse led her to include that the path to wellness takes several paths which include spiritual, mental, social, physical, environmental, and financial healing, and with Christ at the center of it all, she knew that the process of restoration could be one of full joy as she found out through her own healing journey from survival to revival.
We’re proud to have Marjorie run our program.
